High Speed Internet and Broadband Choices

The internet is now an integral part of everyday life for most of us. With streaming music, movies, and videos, it's not going away anytime soon. However, with all the multimedia that can now be found on the internet, the bandwidth needed to enjoy such entertainment is growing rapidly.

A dial-up internet connection is no longer sufficient even if you just view web pages let allow try to stream any type of media. We all started with dial-up and remember the shrieking sound the modem made every time it connected to the internet - these days are over.

Nowadays you have a choice when it comes to a high speed internet connection. Broadband is what it's called these days. In a nutshell, broadband is a way of transmitting large amounts of data that is more efficient than telephony networks (i.e. dial-up). Your choices for broadband include Cable, DSL, T1, and Satellite Internet.

Cable and DSL are the most common broadband choices available to homes. These types of connections are equally comparable - however, everyone has their own opinion and preference. Both sides will argue that they provide a faster connection.

T1 is the commonly used connection for businesses and offices. This type of connection is popular for businesses because it provides more reliability at guaranteed constant speeds.

Satellite internet is the newest craze in the broadband market. This type of connection is geared towards people who live in rural areas that cannot get access to any of the previously mentioned connection types.

In the end, you are going to need one of these connection types soon if you don't have broadband yet. The internet is an evolving multimedia circus and your ticket to get into the party is a broadband connection.
