Windows Vista Blue Screen - How To Fix The Windows Vista Blue Screen

Computer troubled with the Vista blue screen? It is also appropriately called the Vista blue screen of death (BSOD). If you have ever had the unfortunate pleasure of having to deal with it you know why it has that name. Your computer suddenly freezes up displaying a windows blue screen with a bunch of computer language on it. Then your CPU reboots while you lose whatever you were working on or doing at the time. The problem can be a huge pain in the neck. But how do we fix this dreaded Vista blue screen of death? Well first we have to figure out what is causing it. It is usually one of two things:

You were running too many programs at once. This is perhaps the most common and easiest symptom to deal with. The solution is simple. Run less programs or add additional RAM to your computers physical memory.

The other cause is a little more complicated to fix but there are easy solutions if you have the right software.

You have errors in your Windows Vista registry. The registry is the lifeblood of your system. It contains data to run all software and hardware on your computer. So obviously when things go wrong with the registry it can cause major problems.

Unfortunately Windows Vista does not have any internal mechanism to fix corrupt registry errors. The Vista blue screen errors will simply get worse and worse until something is done to clean up registry problems.

Fortunately I have found a program that can fix the Windows Vista blue screen error quite easily. I actually consider it the best registry cleaner for Vista. Not only can it fix the Vista blue screen of death, it also has an optimization feature to speed up your computer tremendously. Scan your computer for free and see if there are any errors you need fixed.

How to Reset the BIOS Password in Dell PCs

Having a password installed in the BIOS of your Dell computer is an efficient means of providing security, and for those that share one PC, it is even a necessity. However, while a default password is setup when you purchase the machine, most do not know how to turn it off or change it.

There are several problems that can arise, such as when the HD is protected and can only be accessed by entering the Dell password. In some cases, a person might forget what the password is, making it impossible to access the Dell computer.

Fortunately there is a way around this problem, but it is important that you understand some basic concepts to avoid any mistakes.

The BIOS

BIOS stands for basic input Output System. It is present in all PCs, not just Dell. It is the one that starts such processes as the keyboard, mouse, memory, video card etc. In other words, it is the very first application that runs when you turn on the computer.

Because of the vital functions that it performs, it is important that should you decide to reset the Dell BIOS password, you follow all the directions carefully.

Resetting the Password in a Dell Dimension PC

The first thing that you will need to do is locate the 3 pin CMOS password and reset jumper. It is usually on the motherboard. If you have no experience in handling computer hardware, you should call a qualified technician to do the work for you.

But if you want to do it yourself, open the Dell PC case, and carefully remove the jumper plug from the pins marked 1 and 2. Next put the plug on the pins numbered two and three. Wait for about ten seconds, and then alter the plug on pins 1 and 2. If done right, you will be able to reset the password.

Dell Optiplex

For the Dell Optiplex, you need to spend some time studying the user's manual specifically dealing with the layout of the system board, as the process is more complex. The first thing you will have to do is to take out the password jumper. Have your Dell User Guide in hand, because finding it can be difficult. When you find this CMOS jumper, gently pull it out.

As with the Dell Dimension you need to remove the jumpers from the first and second pins. Put them on pins 2 and 3. After a minute or so, you can put it back on pins 1 and 2.

Again, it has to be emphasized that resetting the BIOS passwords on Dell computers are delicate processes, and should only be undertaken by the experts. More often than not, users, especially new ones, should have a technician perform this task.

If you believe that you can do it yourself, you need to be certain that you have thoroughly gone over the layouts of the system. Also make sure that you will be working in an uncluttered environment. It is all too easy to lose sight of those jumpers.

What is a Trojan Horse?

What is a Trojan Horse I hear you ask, well let me take you back in time to the days of the trojan war where the Greeks and trojans fought for the city of Troy.

After lots of failed attempts by the Greeks to take over the city, a Greek king decided it might be a good idea to build a huge wooden horse big enough for a group of soldiers to hide in.

The Greek army then appeared to surrender and retreat leaving a horse as a gift for the god Athena, so as not to upset the god the trojans decided to take the horse within the city wall and have a good old victory party.

Once they had all fell asleep after a night of frivolity the Greek soldiers emerged from the wooden horse and killed the trojans guarding the wall and in entered the rest of the Greek army to win the war.

So. . the answer to the question" what is a Trojan Horse" is. ...it is basically a means of displaying a rather destructive program/virus as a harmless application so as to enter your computer undiscovered and allow unauthorised access.

An example is a program that claims to rid your pc of viruses, when in fact it is actually installs viruses on to your system.

There are several classifications of Trojans

  1. Data Sending Trojans
  2. Proxy Trojans
  3. FTP Trojans-Remote Access Trojans
  4. Denial Of Service attack Trojans(DOS Trojans)
  5. Security Software Disabling Trojans.

There is a lot more to tell about the Trojan Horse and what it does but hopefully this is enough to answer the question "what is a Trojan Horse " often asked by friends colleagues or the ever popular pub quiz.

Want to find out if you have a Trojan Horse on your PC and how to get rid of it? Then simply visit Trojan Horse Removals to find out how you can do it the easy way.

How To Improve Computer Performance

Solving a computer problem can be an easy task, either by utilising free or low-cost products or else by common sense tips to enhance computer performance.

As you may actually know computers tend to crash or freeze when needed most; in the middle of some important work or else while updating software. Free software might come in handy but sometimes we get frustrated not knowing what tasks to do in order to tackle the problem further.

Registry Scan

A registry scan clears traces of obsolete data in windows. This eventually improves computer speed drastically. You can get a free registry cleaner or trial version. I personally suggest to purchase a licensed registry cleaner software.

Virus Scan

It’s a must to take a virus scan at least once a week. Make sure that you own one and know how to use it and update it. Most problems can be prevented just by having a virus scanner installed.

Defragmenter program

Files in hard disk can be arranged better and thus accessed better. This can be done with the aid of the Defragmenter program which comes free with Windows. From the Start menu go to All programs – Accessories – System Tools.

Spyware program

Another must is a spyware search program. This is used to you’re your computer for spyware included in software downloaded from internet. Spyware enables other persons to probe into your computer and spy what websites you are surfing enabling them to send you ads through email. This slows the computer drastically.

Make sure that you have a spyware program. If you follow the steps above every week you are guaranteed a healthy computer with improved performance. You will no longer complain of computer freezing or crashing but enjoy fast performance and reliability in your computer.
